In The City

In The City
New York is my favorite place in the whole world and since I was turning the big 2-5 this year I wanted to spend it in my favorite place with some of my favorite people. Rocio and I decided to head to NYC for a fun-filled weekend in the city for our birthday this year and I'm so glad we did!

Our first day there we decided to hit some of the tourist spots since Gabe had never been there before. We first went to eat at this place called The Nugget Spot, but don't worry they had vegetarian options for me! Then we walked around to some cool comic book and collectible shops. We went to the 9/11 Memorial where I also saw my favorite building, the One World Trade Center. We also walked around Wall Street and ended our night in Time Square. Once we got back we waited for Andres and Danya before we hit a night out on the town. I had actually never been to a bar/club in New York so it was definitely an experience (complete with a fight in a pizza shop).

The next day we got the most luxurious donuts from The Doughnut Project. After visiting the Flatiron Building and strolling through a farmer's market, we went to Chinatown and SoHo. We had some bomb tacos at Tacombi Taqueria and did some hardcore shopping. We ended the day with getting ice cream at the famous Taiyaki and let me tell you... the ice cream was incredible! Then the group separated because Omar and I went to watch a live production/movie combo of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was definitely a unique experience but the production overall was a 5/10. I wasn't too impressed with the production part, but I'm still glad I went. I can cross it off my bucket list.

On Sunday we all went to brunch at Serenata's and it was so good that I would go back to NYC just for a day to eat their good. Plus, they had bottomless mimosas for $10....so yeah, we got our monies worth. After we finished packing and cleaning up the Airbnb we rented (which was an incredible loft in Midtown- use my link for $40 off your first trip of $75+), we went to the Brooklyn Bridge. This was a cool experience because even I had never actually been to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was cold, rainy, and so much fun.
