Sick Day Essentials
COVID-19 aside, everyones going to have a sick day. I had one just last week after working two weddings and being on my feet all week, when Monday came around I felt like I had been hit by a bus. My throat was sore and I just wanted to sleep. Sick days are meant to give your body rest, because we all need it from time to time. If you're feeling like one of those days are approaching make sure you have all the necessities.





Blankets–This can seem obvious, but you're going to want a ton of comfy blankets. Maybe even a heated blanket.

Diffuser/Humidifier–Dealer's choice on this one, I actually have both a humidifier as well as an essential oil diffuser. The humidifier is to help me breathe and the essential oil diffuser (lavender & eucalyptus) to relax me. 

Bath Salts + Oils–Baths are a must if you're having a sick day, but don't just drop any Lush bath bomb in there, make sure you're using bath salts and oils that will help detoxify your body, help you breathe better and relax you.

Immune Boosters–This is again a personal preference, but there are so many ways to help boost your immune system to kick this cold a lot quicker. You can make some tea with lemon and ginger, grab some "wellness shots" from Trader Joe's, vitamin C gummies or Emergen-C packets.

Eye Mask + Ear Plugs–When the sun is up I know you want to stay awake, but the truth is your body needs rest. If you don't already have black out curtains then get an eye mask and ear plugs so you can shut out the world while you take an afternoon nap. 

Leisurely Activities–Sometimes I really miss being a kid and living at home. Even when I was sick as an adult and still living at home my dad would run to the store to get me medicine and always came back with some magazines and coloring books (I secretly loved the Barbie ones that came with a pack of crayons attached to it–my fave). It was so fun to do these activities instead of watching re-runs of The Real Housewives (thanks Dad, you're the best!). You definitely don't want to be on your phone or compute when you're sick, you need to rest your mind too so read a book or do some coloring. Just don't over-do it.
