links i love

So much has happened since the last time I posted a Links I Love.  The main thing that happened though is that Omar and I learned that our pup, Oliver..... is not smart.  Like at all.  Like possibly born without a brain.  You think I'm kidding?  I'm not.  Our brilliant pup thought it would be a good idea to jump out of a moving car window.  He was on my lap one minute then out the door within a split second!  Poor pup broke his leg and is in a cast.  Good news is he's healing fast and isn't in any pain.  Bad news, is well the bills.  I guess that's life though.  You think you've got a smart puppy then you find out (the hard way) that you don't.  This week I decided to sit down and pull a collection of Links I Love talking about The Office, a fab DIY, and some beauty tips.

How I (Kind Of) Became A Morning Person
*Image from Bloguettes Stock Photography. This is actually me in this image, taken during my internship at Bloguettes.

For those who know me personally, I am not and let me rephrase that... NOT a morning person.  However, I started to realize that I was sleeping too late and staying up all night.  I hated that half my day was gone and I love the sun, so why wasn't I spending more time in it?  I wanted to change that, but I wasn't sure how to start.  I decided to take it slow and do a few key things to make me more of a morning person.  I'm not saying I wake up at 6am every day, but for a while now I haven't been sleeping past 9am (at the latest).  Here is what I did to change my schedule around!

Lately, I have been really into updating my makeup products. I don't think I've spent more than ten dollars on my previous foundations, but I couldn't seem to find one that just went well with my skin type. I finally went to Ulta with one of my friends who went to cosmetology school and she helped me find the right makeup for my skin type. I was able to bank some killer primer, foundation, an angled brush, setting spray, and mascara! If that wasn't enough though I then found this awesome eyebrow kit, a 4 piece brush set and rose gold eyeshadow palette at TJ Maxx. Then one more trip to Ulta with my mom and she kindly bought me some new concealer!  So I have been extremely happy with these products and thew new tricks I've learned to apply makeup. Now, I'm sharing those tips and tricks with you!

mother's day gift guide
Mother's Day can be fun and a thoughtful thing to celebrate.  I know that I tell my mama I love and appreciate her all the time.  I wouldn't be half the person I am today without her love, support, and guidance.  I'm not being cliche when I say this either, my mother is my best friend.  Even though she doesn't really enjoy holidays like this and even though I can barely afford toilet paper (thanks college) there are things that I think are perfect to tell mom that you appreciate her.

things vegetarians hate hearing
*Image from Bloguettes Stock Photography

I have been a vegetarian for almost ten years now.  Wow, I can't believe it's been that long.  In my time of being meatless I have never been one to necessarily "brag" about being a vegetarian.  It's something that obviously comes up in conversation when I met new people or go to new restaurants, but my reasons for being a vegetarian are simple.  I just don't eat meat.  I don't like it, I don't like the thought of eating animals, and honestly this was my way of rebelling in my teenage years.  You see I wasn't a bad kid but when my parents chuckled at the fact that I was no longer going to eat meat I really wanted to prove them wrong.  I mean it worked so, thanks mom and dad!  Just to clarify this is not a too serious post.  This is sarcastic, funny, and light-hearted.  Please do not feel offended by anything I say in this post, just know I mean all of this but in a sarcastic manner!

things i shouldn't want but i do
I'll be the first to admit it, sometimes I buy things that I don't need but rather I want.  Sometimes I can't justify spending $5 on food but I'll drop $50 at the bookstore for no other reason except Lauren Conrad's face on it.  It really just depends on my mood and what I have on my shopping list.  Sometimes you can't pass up a good sale but other times it's good to say "Eh you don't really need to spend that much money on one item."  There is a list though of items that I find myself wanting but really have to think about if I'm going to use it, should I spend that much money on it, and what could the money be put to better use for.  It's my list of things that might be embarrassing to admit that I actually think about spending a penny on these items.  This is my list of things that I shouldn't want, but secretly I kinda do.
