Starbucks Gingerbread Café
There are some Christmas traditions that people over look sometimes.  There's some really fun and childlike activities that will even put a smile on an adult's face.  One of those activities is putting together a gingerbread house.  I mean come on, it's putting together a sugar filled candy house?  What's not to love?  You get to play with candy!!  I also know that I wasn't the only one who saw that Starbucks released their own version of a gingerbread house this year.  I was too excited to see that cute little kit one winter morning when I was getting my coffee.  That's when Mama Katz and I decided that this was a must-have item this holiday season.

This little set up was not as easy as it looks though.  I'm not artistic whatsoever, but this thing came with instructions so I didn't think it woudl be so complicated.  Nonetheless, this was so much fun to make.  Of course mine doesn't look as ncie as the one on the box... but hey who cares?  The most important part is that I had fun building it.

My grandma helped me put this monster together.  Even though we totally messed up the icing and the gingerbread... it still came out decent.. I think, hah.  My mom sat there and laughed at us the whole time!  We listened to Christmas music and took breaks to help my mom with the Halupki. That's the whole point of a Christmas tradition though isn't it?  To have fun, no matter how messy your gingerbread house turns out?

I love Christmas traditions, new and old.  They make the holidays more fun and festive.  Plus, when you do these traditions with family, you know you're bound to have a wonderful time!

Please note these pictures were taken before Oliver destroyed and ate half the house.

Christmas Outfit + Hair Inspiration

I absolutely love Christmas.  It's my favorite holiday and I look forward to it each year.  My family had so many little traditions (and even some new ones) that always make the holidays feel well.. like the holidays.  My family is part Hungarian and we make this Hungarian dish called Halupki.  Halupki is basically meatloaf stuffed into cooked cabbage.  Okay, I know what you're thinking... it sounds disgusting, but I promise it's delicious!  We also decided to build a gingerbread house (thanks to Starbucks) and we open one small gift on Christams Eve.  I love the traidtions my family has and I'm so excited to open presents, drink a hot chai, see my famil, and of course.. eat .. a TON... of FOOD!  With that being said I wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and give my gift to you: a Fashion + Beauty blog post!

I am totally that person who will wear ugly Christmas sweaters, reindeer antlers, and of course.. plaid pants.  I found these bad boys in JcPenny's a couple years ago and their made my fave twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  I have been wanting to wear these for the longest time but could never find the right combination to pair it with.  I finally did it though!  I paired it together with my favorite cream knit sweater and this darling red velvet choker I got at Charming Charlies.  How festive and adorable is my Christmas outfit!

For my makeup I did something I never, and I mean never do.  I went for a bold red lip.  I mean it is Christmas afterall.  I kepy my foundation and eye makeup simple with a gold nude on the eyelids.  I wanted my lipstick to really stand out.  I used a lipstick I've had for a while from NARS.  I'm not used to seeing myself in such a bold color, but I liked it!

For my hair I kept it super simple.  I love just straightening my hair and letting it fall where it may.  However, since I'm rushing from place to place, unwrapping and wrapping some more, I need to just throw my hair out of my face sometimes.  So I threw half of it into a high pony tail.  This hair style totally reminds me of the eighties hair styles I see in my mom's high school pictures, but I love it.  Just remember to keep poofing your high ponytail or else it will lay flat.

Also, shout out to my amazing boyfriend for sending me flowers for Christmas!

New Thanksgiving Traditions

I know I'm almost a month behind here, but I finally had time to sit down and go through the pictures that I took for Thanksgiving.  I've mentionted this a couple times now, but for Thanksgiving my family decided to rent a beach house down in North Carolina.  It was really awesome because it allowed me to still work so I could take a longer Christmas break.  This was really touching to me that my whole family (dogs included) came to visit me and see what my life is like down south.  Let's be honest though, no one was complaining about the view.

Let's start with the beach house.  Holy crap that thing was amazing!  It was three floors (third floor lead to the cars and beach access), with high ceilings and spacious rooms.  The three bedrooms (including mine) had access to a balcony that lead to the beach.  In the master bathroom there was a jacuzzi bathtub!  The top floor had very open kitchen which made Thanksgiving cooking a whole lot easier.  The living room complete with a bar area, board game storage, and a small tv that we couldn't redirect in a different position.  The fourth bedroom and bathroom was upstairs as well.  There was a large dinning room table (again perfect for this occassion) that we played card and board games on every night.  Then of course sliding glass doors that led to the balcony that overlooked the ocean.  It was a gorgeous place and I'm so thankful to my mom for doing the research and finding this place.  It was beautiful.

Thanksgiving was so much fun too!  Whoever says vegetarians hate Thanksgiving you are wrong.  We eating everything else except the turkey!  Green bean casarole, yams, mashed potatoes.. it's heaven.  My dad even made a vegetarian version of the stuffing for me!  We all sat around the large dinning room table, listened to the ocean hit the shore, drank champagne, and enjoyed each other's company.

Thanksgiving was such a fun event this year and it even started a new tradition.  As my brother and I get older we will be traveling and following our dreams which could very possibly send us out of state from time to time.  It's so heart warming to know that my family is willing to follow us wherever those dreams take us.

I know my mom will read this and I just wanted to say thanks Mama Katz for organizing this beautiful Thanksgiving.  I'm already looking forward to next year.
