September Recap

September Recap

I'm back doing another recap of yet another month of 2019. September honestly went by so quickly. I know people tend to say that a lot, "Oh this month went by so fast," but I truly don't know where September went. I wasn't ready for October even though I love this month, I wasn't fully ready for it. I'll be completely honest with you all–September wasn't a good month for me. Everyone says that you put your highlight reel online and it's true. I don't always talk about the "bad" or "negatives" in my life because who wants to hear about that? But we're all adults here and we all go through the same things and you know how you have bad days, weeks or months? Well, I do too and September was that month for me. This monthly recap might not be as exciting as previous ones, but it's probably one of the most honest, so let's get into it.

September Recap

Recap
As I said, this month was just rough. It seemed like when I got back from California shit just hit the fan. In all aspects of my life I was just at a low. My mental/personal health, work life, work and social life balance, relationships (romantic and friendships)– I just felt that I wasn't giving my best 100% which just then made me feel worse than I was already feeling. It was definitely a bit of a struggle and I needed to step away from everything to sort of realign my mind. I took a few days off work, make plans with friends and was making sure to see and talk to my family a bit more because honestly talking to my parents can put me in the best mood. It was just something I needed to do and it worked. I'm not saying I'm 100% better, but I'm getting there. Mental health is so important and you need to do what's best for you. Some people love to workout, other people need to meditate.. it just depends. I'll share more about when I feel like I'm on the verge of a breakdown how I get out of that feeling. So yeah, September was a bummer, but it's October now and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Highs & Lows
Highs: Even though September wasn't the best per say, I still had good days. I got a raise at work and on my side hustle (I assist a local wedding photographer on the weekends) and I feel that just a lot of opportunities have been coming up more and I'm excited to see where else these opportunities can take me.

Lows: I sort of already touched on this, but it was just a rough month. I definitely felt like life was testing me lately in all aspects of my life. Finances, relationships, work... you name it and I was going through it.

Links I Love
Salvatore Brothers Reunited // Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are joining forces to create a bourbon and I am here for it. As a Vampire Diaries fan I already know this is going to be good.

Shelby Church Vlogs // I already shared this in my Cali recap blog posts but I was in one of Shelby Church's vlogs and I just think that is so cool!!! Even though I'm so awkward... still COOL!

Cross Country //
This title speaks for itself... "High School Cross-Country Team Takes Lonely Shelter Dogs On Their Morning Runs." My heart.

Memes // Can you call these images "memes?" They're screenshots of Twitter post that are relatable and hilarious. Like this one about living with a significant other, a husky and his pool and being an obsessively animal lover.

Dogs at Disney // I loveeeeeeeee seeing dogs go to Disney. I mean... come on look at that smile!!!!

Looking For Alaska // One of my all-time favorite books is being adapted into a Hulu original series. I am excited, but also not excited. Shows and movies are never as good as the books, but I do appreciate them not trying to rush it into a two-hour movie and instead letting it be a complete series. Sort of like 13 Reasons Why, it was a book and now it's on season four. So who knows, maybe it will be good. All I know is I instantly stopped what I was doing when this commercial came on the other day.

My September Spread // You can expect the next couple months to see my work in the publication that I work for. I was assigned my very own 2-page spread focusing on millennial and even though this month's work was a headache in a half, it's still my interview, my words and my work so I'm going to share it!

Favorites
I really didn't have a lot of favorites this month because like I said I just wasn't in the right frame of mind the past few weeks, but most of my favorites all surround the fall time. Honestly, just a lot of fall candles, fall blankets, pumpkins and all things fall related.
